RBCGS PUTTING COMPETITION

It's time to put your putting skills to the test at the Estoril Putting Practice Area.  This practice putting area will test you to the full. Can you do a full round of golf with fewer than 36 putts?  Put your skills to the test against your fellow members to see who will be crowned the Society's Putter of the year!!

Location:    Estoril Golf Club

Date: From March to mid-November

Holder of the Trophy: Raj Tandon

THE COMPETITION

  • This competition is to be played over 18 holes of putting.
  • The venue for all the matches will be the practice green between the Estoril GC
  • The competition is scheduled for THE FINAL to take place by the end of November.  The Draw will set target dates for completion of each round.
  • The player at the top of each draw has the responsibility to contact their opponent(s) to arrange a time for the match within the timescales of the overall tournament.
  • Results of matches should be posted on the draw posted on the noticeboard at the Clubhouse and e-mailed to the Captain.

THE MATCH RULES

The normal R&A rules apply, in addition to which:

  1. Matches will be played off scratch.
  2. No “gimmes” are permitted.
  3. The player whose name appears at the top of the draw will have the honour on the first hole.
  4. Matches will start with a coin toss to determine who nominates the first hole to aim for and from a point selected by that player.
  5. Each player then putts toward the selected hole in accordance with normal putting rules till all putts have been made.
  6. The honour to select next hole and lead the way then passes alternately between players .  A two ball will see each player choosing 9 holes while a three ball will see players choosing 6 holes each.
  7. The format will be STROKE PLAY.  The player with the fewest total strokes is the winner after 18 holes. So count your strokes. You must play each hole out.  A 3-putt becomes a heavy burden against your score.
